Rehovot Talk – Enduring Powers of Attorney @ Private home
Jun 13 @ 20:30 – 22:30

A talk by Adv. Yael Rosenberg Rich.

What happens when you can no longer handle your own affairs and make decisions regarding your health and welfare? Until recently the only solution was for the court to appoint a guardian for you. Israeli law now enables you to appoint the person you wish to represent you and look after your interests: the Enduring Power of Attorney. The new law will be explained, the procedure for signing an Enduring Power of Attorney and its ramifications.

Netanya AGM + Talk by Elkan Levy: Rabbis, Rothschilds and Rogues (part 2) @ Moadon
Mar 3 @ 19:30 – 22:00
After the meeting, Elkan Levy will be giving part 2 of his fascinating talk on Rabbis, Rothchilds and Rogues – British Jewry in Pictures.
We are extending to you a personal invitation to attend this event. As I’m sure you are aware, HOB is a grass-root, democratic organisation run by its members, for its members, both on a national and on a local level. At the AGM you will receive a report of last years activities and finances and elect a committee and officers (chairman, vice-chairman, treasurer and secretary). We would be more than pleased to see other members joining our ranks, perhaps with a fresh viewpoint and fresh ideas. It will provide all members of the branch with the opportunity to comment on the events held in 2019 and the performance of the committee and suggest activities and events for the coming year. If you feel that you have the time and the inclination to volunteer to take a more active role in the running of the branch and particularly if you are willing to stand for election to the branch committee for 2020/21, please reply to this email, before the date of the AGM.
What is the evidence for the first Jews in England? Which is the oldest Shul that still exists in Britain (and is in use)? What is the Lokshen Buchel? Where is the 1760 furniture from Leadenhall Street? Which Shul has a Bimah similar to Nelson’s ships? Who was Anglo Jewry’s most notable ancestor? Which Sefer Torah mantel needs two people to lift it? What is the significance of hobnailed boots? Elkan will project the pictures and talk you through the places, personalities and communal rows that were involved.
