Our annual Convention took place this year at the Beth Shean Guest House, a pleasant and attractive venue.
The A.G.M., a non-voting one this year, was handled smoothly and quickly. The guest speaker on Friday afternoon was Neerav Patel, Head of Politics at the British Embassy, who gave us a frank overview of the UK’s political stance vis-à-vis the State of Israel and fielded questions and comments.
Liat Collins, Jerusalem Post columnist and editor of the Jerusalem Post International Edition, spoke on “The New World (Dis)order” and gave us an insight into the world of journalism, sharing with us some of her many experiences as a journalist;
Prof. Stefan Reif, Emeritus Professor of Medieval Hebrew Studies at Cambridge University, gave an informative and highly entertaining presentation, entitled “Where did the Siddur Come From?.”
The weekend’s concluded with the, as ever, entertaining “Kosher Quiz”, devised and most ably presented by Steve, Ellie and Ariella Morris and Hugo and Helen Gottlieb.
It was an interesting and entertaining weekend, ably organised by the Events Committee: Chaim Martell, Val Fisher, Steve & Ellie Morris, Clive & Shirley Levy, Ian & Jo Levitt and Ian & Cherill Banks.
